A game called ‘Golf’ is hidden in every Nintendo Switch

Information of Golf’s being on Switch comes uniquely SwitchBrew.org, a wiki concentrated on hacking and examining the software powering Nintendo’s newest console. It’s not a piracy thing, however; “homebrew” programmers try to solve the code on gaming devices primarily to install software that wouldn’t unless be supported.

It’s been recognized for some time since July, in fact, that there’s a built-in NES emulator embedded in the Switch OS code, called “Flog.” What no one understood at the time, however, was that Flog which is “Golf” spelled backward, ICYMI isn’t a common-purpose emulator; alternatively, it appears to be one particular game, copied.

More than that, Golf appears to have been updated especially for Switch play. It supports two players using Joy-Con controllers, but data-mined screenshots look to also show support for motion controls.

That’s really a first. Past Nintendo consoles have allowed up legacy games via the “Virtual Console” part of the eShop, but none so far have modernized older games to the position that they support new-fangled power schemes given by motion controls.

Golf obviously does. It’s just too bad there’s no way to get for sure. Although the game’s system has been discovered in the Switch OS, no one understands how to really unlock it and make it playable.

Maybe there’s any arcane button combination that no one’s baffled out yet. Maybe it’s just an easter egg that no one was ever supposed to discover. Hell, it could even be something that’s thought to unlock as a freebie for everyone whenever Nintendo gets about to launching Virtual Console for Switch.
