Edward Snowden Files Reveals That British Government Is Collecting All Online Traffic

Edward Snowden recently released batch of NSA documents to The Intercept online newspaper showing British online surveillance projects.

The project is named as Karma Police, has the GCHQ (Government Communications Headquarters), this project is taken by a British security and Surveillance agency. The recent files of Edward Snowden reveals that the GCHQ has trying capture data from international Internet cables and snooping web traffic, storing them in its data center.

According to the files revealed to The Intercept says that, the GCHQ  has been tracking everything it can do, from users browsing history to social network activity.

All this data is stored for the purpose of finding criminal and terrorist behavior from online moments. These data is stored and organized with special software. In these data storage, one of the biggest of all is called the Black Hole and this storage contains massive data detailing each Internet user’s browsing history.

Mutant Broth a tool used by GCHQ employees to find the Black Hole database, and mainly for browser cookies. There are many other tools used by GCHQ employees such as Social Anthropoid, Tempora, Memory Hole, Marbled, Infinite, Monkeys, and Samuel Pepys.

All these tools used to search social networks, IM apps, emails, Skype calls, telephony data and much more. Nearly 30billion metadata records have been collected each day during 2010 and 50 billion per day in 2012. For more details information on this topic check out theintercept.com
