12 million torrent users are infected with virus every month

Millions of users download pirated content on hundreds of torrent websites that are serving virus every month.

According to Digital Citizens Alliance and RiskIQ, almost 1/3 of the 800 main torrent websites online spreading malware to their visitors.

“When you visit mainstreams sites, things are naturally happening without you clicking anything: pictures are being downloaded, ads are generating,” said Tom Galvin.

“What’s happening now is that users can click on one of these content sites and decide not to watch a movie, but the malware is already on their computer scraping for their social security number.” he added.

Most of these torrent sites make money by selling ad space to malicious advertisers, later on these advertisers infect users computer with virus and sell them on the dark web for $20-$50 per user. Estimated profit of this business amounted to more than $70 million in 2015

Just use NOD32 or Linux and you're good.
