HSBC Bank Suffers A Cyber Attack

British bank HSBC’s online banking website is down with a cyber attack leaving thousands of customers unable to access its services. Though HSBC successfully defended this attack but services are disrupted on a key day for many people’s personal finances.

A spokesperson said HSBC had been hit by a distributed denial of service (DDos) attack but did not mention about the source of the attack. HSBC said that no customer details had been compromised by the attack and that it was working closely with law enforcement authorities to pursue the criminals responsible.

“We are working hard to restore services, and normal service is now being resumed”, HSBC UK tweeted. HSBC also experienced problems with its online banking services although that was put down to technical issues rather than a malicious attack.
