Grant Manser , 20 year old boy from a town near Birmingham, in the UK, has pleaded guilty to selling DDoS tools on the Dark Web that has been used to bring down websites and servers across UK and many European countries.
The UK teen hosted a website on the Dark Web and started to sell DDoS tools created by him such as Dejabooter, Vexstresser, Netspoof and Redfinedstresser.
The price of this tools cost between £4.99 and £20 ($7 and $28), and he made nearly £50,000 ($70,000) within four years. All the payments were made through PayPal.
According to prosecutors says that Manser’s dark web grew so large, that he got some advertisers support, and nearly 12,800 users registered, in which 400 users bought his DDoS tools, launching DDoS attacks.
Nearly 603,499 DDoS attacks were launched using this tool and 224,548 websites were targeted across UK and many European countries.
Police tracked down this teen after DDoS attacks on two UK schools, Harrogate and Hull College. They also captured various tools sold by Manser on the Dark Web, even though he managed to detect his real identity.
The UK judge sentenced the teenager for 18 months suspend and also has to perform 100 hours of community work and pay £800($1,130) as cost of damages to the public.
The main feature of this tool is in fact that they were built secret safeguards in his software that prevented the tools from being used to attack on the Police, hospitals, banks and the FBI.
