HMD Global Announced First ever Nokia smartphone with 4GB RAM, 16MP camera

Today HMD Global has finally announced their first Nokia Android smartphone, after so many rumours and speculations leaked online. The mobile is called Nokia 6, and it has been launched in China. As of now, the mobile is available only in Chinese market moreover only on JD.com. The selling price of the phone is CNY 1699 (that is approx Rs 17,000).

The all new Nokia 6 sports a 5.5-inch Full HD display with 2.5D Gorilla Glass covering it. The phone has an aluminium unibody design. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC with X6 LTE modem. In terms of memory, you will get 64GB of internal storage and 4GB RAM. The device supports external microSD card for storage expansion. The mobile runs the latest Android 7.0 Nougat OS.

Nokia phones are very well known for the camera chops. Having that in mind, the Nokia 6 comes with a 16MP rear camera with a f/2.0 aperture and also an 8MP front-facing camera with a f/2.0 aperture. The rear camera of the phone comes with phase-detect Auto Focus. In terms of battery, you will get a 3000mAh battery.

HMD Global has released the phone only for the China market at the moment. It has reasoned that China is a strategically important market “where premium design and quality is highly valued by consumers”. Which could be true of lot many other countries as well.

However, Nokia 6 won’t be the only smartphone coming out this year from HMD Global. It has hinted in its press release that there will be more devices coming by H1 2017.

The exact date of the sale is not yet known, but HMD Global only says that it will start selling in early 2017 on JD.com.
