Hacker Threaten Apple to Remotely Wipe iPhones

A group of hackers are now threatening the Apple to pay ransom or they are threatening to remotely wipe iPhones.

It seems that these attackers are have identified themselves as “Turkish Crime Family.” Taking account just how big the Apple is and how deep its pockets go, these hackers only demanded a ransom of $75,000 in Bitcoin or Ethereum or any another crypto-currency. Alternatively, $100,000 worth of iTunes gift cards would work just fine Motherboard reports.

As a matter of fact, these hackers reached out to the media shows that they want to make Apple squirm a bit, while also informing the users that the tech giant is not just jumping at the chance of paying off to the hackers.

“I just want money and thought this would be an interesting report that a lot of the Apple customers would be interested in hearing and reading,” the hackers told to the publication, while they have also shared screenshots of the alleged emails between the group and members of the Apple’s security team.

These hackers went as far as to upload even a YouTube video of them logging into some of these above mentioned stolen accounts, and showing their photos and the ability to remotely wipe the whole device.

One of the emails which was allegedly sent by the Apple asks them to take down the video as it was seeking some unwanted attention. “We would like you to know that we don’t reward cyber criminals for breaking laws,” continues on that same video.

The emails Motherboard had access to seem to show some inconsistency. In one of them, the hacker claims to have access to 300 million Apple email accounts, while in another the number jumps to 559 million.

For its part, Apple seems to be keeping mum about the issue. Hackers have given them until April 7 to pay up.
