A few weeks ago, I published a series of (3) articles discussing Marianas Web/Dark Fantasy Network/DarkestDepth – or whatever the hell you want to call it. A lot of readers took the articles as a declaration of “fact”.
Obviously, it’s clear that Marianas Web is nothing but a conspiracy theory. It’s also clear that the weird domains (.end, .clos, .dafy) are fabricated.
But that’s not where attention should be paid. My research got me directly involved with a couple of the people mentioned in my articles. The drama that uncovered shortly after was definitely one for the books. So much, in fact, that it’s inspired me to write another series of articles.
It started with a declaration of truth: none of it is real.
Of course, you already knew this. What you don’t know are the details. It seems V3RDAD’s infamous quote “The whole truth is often hidden from view” held some fact after all.
The first semblance of reality spoken (or typed):
“I don’t want to help fucking feds anymore.”
Let’s go for the long story short version. All of this information was spread by a group of individuals. A couple of them were working together; completely aware of the true intention. The others had no idea that the last 1.5 years of their lives were wasted on fallacy.
Before we go any further – everything mentioned from here on out is the truth as one (or three) people see it. This does not mean that their truth is the truth. I, however, am inclined to believe them due to certain circumstances.
So . . . let’s get started.
Marianas Web is a giant disinformation campaign orchestrated by the federal government. In an effort to take down as many black markets and illegal activities on the dark web as possible, the urban myth was created.
