Vendors Involved in the 2016 Chemical Love Bust are Sentenced

Back in April of 2016, a somewhat popular black market called Chemical Love was busted by Rhineland/Palatinate (German) authorities.

Although one suspect was christened the leader of the operation, five others were also charged. When infiltrating the “narcotics depot”, law enforcement officials found an alarming quantity of drugs.

The items recovered included:

  • 5 kilo of amphetamine
  • 4,158 LSD trips
  • 2 kilo of hash
  • 250 grams of crystal meth
  • 7 kilo of MDMA (crystalline form)
  • 1 kilo of ecstasy (tablets)

Items expected for delivery included:

  • 75 kilo of amphetamine
  • 6 kilo of MDMA
  • 2,700 LSD trips
  • 12,800 ecstasy (tablets)
  • 67 kilo of cocaine
  • 300 grams of heroin
  • 93 kilo of hash
  • 165 grams of crystal meth

During the raid, records of past customers and current orders were also found. German authorities definitely utilized this find, as over 1000 cases have been opened since the busting back in 2016.

In even more interest, two of the suspects arrested included former professional soccer player Walter Kelsch and his son, Nicholas.

“According to the German news publication volksfreund.de, the 30-year-old defendant is the son of the former soccer player Walter Kelsch, who played for the national team in 1984 and for the VfB Stuttgart.

When law enforcement authorities raided the narcotics depot in the Rhineland-Palatinate, the 61-year-old Kelsch was among the suspects who were arrested. The former soccer player was also charged by the prosecution.”

Earlier this month, three of the six defendants were charged and sentenced to time in prison. Nicholas Kelsch, dubbed the leader of the operation back when he founded it in May 2015, was among the three sentenced.

He was sentenced to 14 years and 10 months in prison. He was also fined 10 million euros. The other two defendants were sentenced to 7 years and 3 months in prison.

Since the busting of Chemical Love back in 2016, it’s probably safe to say that just as many new black markets have popped up in its place.
