Profile Picture Protection is now available in Facebook

The Facebook was driven to offer the tools later hearing from Indian social and security organizations that some women in the nation chosen not to upload pictures of their appearances to the internet. The tools were created in partnership with a variety of those organizations, with tests showing the kinds of stuff that would cut down on the abuse of profile pictures. For example, Facebook says that being as simple as adding a design overlay to a photo means that others are at shortest 75 percent less likely to copy it.

Users can now set those layers quickly using Facebook’s settings, but the tools aren’t fit to cut out the copying of profile pics overnight. While Facebook tells it’s doing everything it can to stop people from screenshotting pictures via Android, users could yet take screengrabs on laptop or desktop, and that new blue shielded border is a “visual cue” of security, rather than any hard barrier.

Still, though, if experiments have shown that fairly simple extensions can deter opportunists, then the tools are a possibly useful option for Indian users.

Besides this, Facebook further lets you add design to your profile photo, which is also like adding watermark to your photo. Facebook believes it discourages people from copying your photo. “Based on introductory tests, we’ve discovered that when someone adds an additional design layer to their profile picture, other people are at smallest 75 percent less likely to copy that picture,” said by Facebook.
