Microsoft Paint and other apps are going to be discontinued by Windows 10’s Next Update

Microsoft is dropping various features and functionalities from its new build. In preparation for the release of the Fall Creators Update, Microsoft has published the full list of stories that will be removed or depreciated from the new build.

Removed features

3D Builder app

No continued installed by default. Consider working with Print 3D and Paint 3D in its home. 3D Builder will still be ready for download from the Windows Store.

Apndatabase.xml

Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit (EMET)

Use will be limited. Consider using the Exploit Shield feature of Windows Defender Achievement Guard as a replacement.

Screen saver functionality in Themes

To be useless in Themes. Screen saver functionality in Group Policies, Control Panel, and Sysprep is now depreciated but continues to be working. Lock screen features and policies are preferred.

Syskey.exe

Removing this nonsecure security feature. BitLocker suggested instead. For more information, see the following Knowledge Base article:

TCP Offload Engine

Excluding this legacy code. This functionality was earlier transitioned to the Stack TCP Engine.

IIS 6 Management Compatibility

Alternative scripting tools and a distinct control console recommended in its place.

Alternative authentication systems recommended.

RSA/AES Encryption for IIS

CNG encryption provider suggested instead.

Sync Your Settings

Backend changes: The popular sync process is being opposed. In a future release, the same film storage system for syncing frames will be used for both Enterprise State Roaming users and all other users. Currently, these users use different cloud storage systems.

System Image Backup (SIB) Solution

Full-disk backup from other vendors recommended instead.

TLS RC4 Ciphers

To be disabled by default. TLS Schannel SSP changes in Windows 10 and Windows Server 2016

Trusted Platform Module (TPM): TPM.msc and TPM Remote Management

To be changed by a new user interface in a future release.
