Chris Slowe was the company’s establishing engineer when he met the team in late 2005. Slowe entered Reddit after getting to understand co-founders Alexis Ohanian and current-CEO Steve Huffman in Y-Combinator’s original batch where he was serving as the founder of a different start-up at the time.

Former Reddit CTO Marty Weiner, who was also Pinterest’s establishing engineer, is now working in an advisory role to the business and, according to his Twitter bio, is currently “on vacation working on top classified stuff.”

A Reddit spokesperson affirmed the official change to News.

“Reddit is delighted that Chris Slowe, our establishing engineer, is our CTO. Marty Weiner led in engineering perfection that helped make Reddit what it is today we sent more product under Marty’s direction than ever before,” the spokesperson told News. “Marty remains an active portion of the Reddit family and is an advisor to the business.”

According to Slowe’s LinkedIn profile, he began the new role in May of this year. Slowe has been on as the executive of engineering at Reddit since dropping Hipmunk, a travel plan startup founded by Huffman, in late 2015 he remains an advisor there.

Earlier this summer time, Reddit declared that it had raised $200 million at a $1.8 billion post-money valuation.
