Samsung has strong bargaining power against Apple since they are only OLED Display Manufacturers

Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities published a note to investors on Wednesday, a transcript of which was captured by News, explaining that Samsung has strong trade power against Apple.

He assumes that the OLED shows for the “iPhone 8” cost Apple within $120 and $130 per unit well exceeding the $45 to $55 per unit Apple is supposed to pay for the iPhone 7 Plus 5.5-inch LCD screen.

According to Kuo, “Apple is in critical need of finding an another source of OLED.” Any variety in the supply chain will take time, however, as playing display makers need to not only ramp up OLED output but also understand manufacturing of the next-generation display technology to meet Apple’s quality power standards.

Interestingly, Kuo still looks unsure as to whether the following iPhone will have a fingerprint sensor. In Wednesday’s note, he advised that Apple “may abandon” its Touch ID technology in favor of the OLED display, but held short of saying definitively that it has been removed from the handset, which will be published in less than a week.

“We believe 3D Touch module could be unfavorable for the scan-through production of under-display fingerprint recognition,” Kuo said, “which is whole of the main reasons why OLED iPhone may drop fingerprint recognition.”

when Apple is keeping an event to probably unveil its next-generation iPhone starters, headlined by the flagship “iPhone 8.” Different names given to the unannounced result include “iPhone Pro,” “iPhone Edition,” and “iPhone X.”

The device is supposed to carry a premium price beginning at around $1,000 and will be flanked by followers to the iPhone 7 lineup, sporting legacy, and cheaper LCD technology.
