In general, hackers hack because they can. But, it goes a little farther than that. Hacking is a hobby for some hackers, they hack only to see what they can and can’t break into, regularly testing only their own systems.
Many hackers get a kick out of defeating corporate and government IT and security administrators. They grow on making headlines and being infamous cyber-outlaws. Defeating an entity or holding knowledge that few other people have makes them feel better about themselves. Many of these hackers feed off the instant satisfaction of exploiting a machine system. They become obsessed with this mood. Some hackers can’t resist the adrenaline rush they get from hacking into someone else’s systems. Usually, the more difficult the job is, the higher the thrill is for hackers.
Remember that hackers usually hack just because they can. Some hackers go for high-profile systems, but breaking into anyone’s system helps them become into hacker circles. Hackers exploit many users’ false sense of security and go for almost any system they think they can hack. Electronic information can be in more than one place at the same time, so if hackers simply copy information from the systems they break into, it’s tough to show that hackers possess that information.
