Amazon’s Blended Reality Mirror let’ you try on clothes virtually

The patent explains the mirror as partially-reflective and somewhat-transmissive and employs a mix of displays, cameras, and projectors to produce the blended image. The invented mirror works by studying the environment to create a virtual model and then recognizes the face and eyes of the user to decide which objects are to be seen as a picture. Once this process is completed, the virtual costumes and scene are conveyed through the glass to create the blended reality issue.

Not all licensed ideas turn into results, of course. But Amazon got Body Labs last year, an AI-software and machine vision company that once promoted its ability to create 3D models of human bodies in movement and then dress them in virtual outfits. You can also trace a line of succession between the blended-reality mirror and Amazon’s Echo Look, a hands-free video camera that takes floor-length photos of you to present style advice and fashion recommendations.

Amazon has frequently eyed a place in the convention industry, ambitiously making up businesses in the sector, including starting its own clothing lines and developing algorithms that design clothing based on Instagram fashion trends.

All thought an Amazon-branded mirror that helps you get clothed isn’t as bizarre as it might have once seemed.
