Opera mobile browsers now prevents cryptocurrency miners from compromising your smartphone

The battle against the cryptocurrency miners continues. There are a lot of bitcoin miners that use the power of thousands of machines to mine bitcoins and other kinds of cryptocurrencies.

The recent escalating miners have shown that no one is safe and the effects of it can be devastating. For that reason, Opera has released new versions of their mobile browser that prevents cryptocurrency miners from compromising your smartphone when you visit a website with mining scripts.

If you want to check if your device is affected by any undesired cryptocurrency miner, then you just need to visit “cryptojackingtest.com” on your mobile browser to check if your phone is affected by any cryptocurrency miner.

This feature has already been present in the desktop variant of Opera since December and is a welcome addition to their mobile counterparts. The feature now exists in the full Opera app on Google Play store. If you install this version, you can enable the Ad Blocker from the settings.

According to Opera:
The reason why smartphone users who have Opera Mini or Opera for Android are protected against coin mining threats, is because both browsers are equipped with the new anti-cryptocurrency mining feature which is activated by default when enabling the ad blocker on Opera Mini and Opera for Android. The ad blocker can be enabled in “Settings”, and it will automatically detect and stop the mining scripts written into the coding of a webpage.
