Cloudflare has launched two separate and useful security enhancements for its consumers in the same week. These include the enterprise-focused ‘Browser Isolation’ system, and the end-user protection mechanism named ‘Page Shield’.

Cloudflare Browser Isolation

Recently, Cloudflare announced the launch of Browser Isolation for enterprise customers. Elaborating the details in a post, Cloudflare explained that the new system will play a role in protecting the customers from web browser-based attacks.

Briefly, Browser Isolation works just like it sounds – isolates browser on the end-user device from the company network.

The system serves as a remote browser where every website or weblink first executes. This saves the end-user device from potential attacks via malicious websites. The web pages run on clouds, letting Cloudflare automatically check the pages against malicious ones, thus protecting the user. Whereas, the end-user receives a replica of the web page.

With such a system, the end-user will observe no glitches while browsing. Whereas, the user needs not fear any cyber attacks.

This type of security is significantly important for businesses where the execution of a malicious code on the system of just one employee connected to the company network can result in getting the whole IT infrastructure infected.

The feature is now available as an add-on to Cloudflare for Teams.

Cloudflare Page Shield

The other noteworthy announcement from Cloudflare this week, besides Browser Isolation, is the launch of ‘Page Shield’.

This feature typically addresses one of the common browser-based cyber threats of today – web skimmer scripts, such as Magecart. These scripts stealthily run on different websites, especially the online stores, after the attackers inject them into the target site’s codes. The codes then execute on the browsers of site visitors to steal data.

To address this issue, Cloudflare launched the client-side protection solution ‘Page Shield’.

As explained in their post, the first feature of Page Shield is ‘Script Monitor’ that monitors JavaScript dependencies of websites. It tracks any new dependencies and generates alerts to take action. In this way, the customers would know right away if they encounter any malicious scripts.

In the future, Script Monitor will also include JavaScript analysis and code change detection features.
