The 2017 edition of Google CTF has been announced

Google published on Friday the dates and prizes for the second edition of capture the flag (CTF) competition.

The competition (CTF) is separated into two rounds, the first round is the qualification round, that will be taken online on June (17th and 18th, 2017). The last round, to be taken on site at a Google office through a weekend in October 2017.

The qualification round will consist of a collection of challenges for competitors to solve. There are two ways for competitors to gain rewards based on solving these challenges:

– By submitting written challenge solution descriptions (“write-ups”) rewards, where Google will give cash prizes to the best and more creative challenge solution descriptions that competitors submit.

– By gaining points for solving challenges within the competition time limit as described further below, the teams that will earn the most points will qualify to participate in a final round competition where additional cash awards are possible.

The teams that gain the highest scores will be asked to participate in the final round. Google will issue a travel gift of up to $8,000 per team for those participants that might not otherwise have the funds to visit the site for the finals.

The team that wins in the final by gaining the highest score will get $31,337. The second position and the third position winners will be given $7,331 and $3,133.7, respectively.
