It’s no secret these days that drugs can be purchased online with little to no effort on the consumer’s part via the Deep Web. Fortunately, law enforcement troll the Darknet for activities such as this and target those involved. This type of criminal behavior is deplorable considering it causes more damage than meets the eye.
Drug trafficking funds the seedy parts of the world from terrorist groups to pedophilia media rings and everything in between. Serving justice to online drug dealers is undeniably necessary in the fight against child pornography distribution and the epidemic of worldwide terrorism.
In recent news a couple, Aaron Gledhill and Ross Brennan, both residents of the United Kingdom, were apprehended for their part in the online distribution of fentanyl. Authorities recognize fentanyl as one of the most dangerous drugs one can use and is currently a deadly epidemic in the United Kingdom since it is fifty times more potent than morphine.
The UK has already accumulated more than 70 fentanyl related deaths this year alone and the year isn’t over yet. In this case, Gledhill and Brennan’s activities were brought to light not by way of law enforcement as one would assume. Instead, several neighbors became increasingly concerned of the welfare of Brennan due to his autism.
Once authorities were informed, a search was performed at the couple’s residence where an overwhelming amount of drugs and drug manufacturing material was discovered. Among the evidence was large amounts of traditional and handmade drugs, a fully operational drug manufacturing lab and computers used for their Deep Web distribution.
Local authorities continue to investigate the couple’s illegal activities, which also includes money laundering and possible fraud on Brennan’s part for faking the level of which his autism affects him. In the end, stopping this couple and their operation is a huge win that no doubt saved many lives in the process.
