Top Firms Join Forces With Cyber-Security Alliance

A few of the worlds largest technology firms have planned on joining forces to provide their businesses with better online protection. The alliance will contain Etisalat, Singtel, SoftBank and Telefonica. This alliance will be called Global Telco Security Alliance and it will serve in more than 60 countries around the world and with 1.2 billion customers.

The companies claim that they will offer two things to the customers. One- the alliance will offer their customers with great cyber technology and tools. The second thing they will offer their customers is low pricing on the existing services as well as the services that offer currently.

This alliance will bring about 22 Security Operation Centers and will be employing more than 6000 cyber-security experts with them on their team. The alliance members will share operational intelligence amongst each other.

Francisco Salcedo, senior vice president at Etisalat Digital says that, “With digital technologies gaining widespread adoption and driving innovation across industry verticals, the security landscape has evolved.”

He further added saying, “Organizations now face a new breed of threats and need to manage digital risks in their environments. Todays strategic alliance will give us a unique opportunity to work hand in hand with our telecom counterparts and deliver innovative security services for digital risk management.”

CEO of Global Security at Singtel, Art Wong says that businesses require a “Swift and coordinated global responses to defend enterprises that operate across transnational borders as cyber threats are increasing in frequency, scale and sophistication.”

If you go back to 2017, roughly around 2.6 billion data records have been compromised in with data leaks and these data leaks are still happening all around us. This amount has doubled since the 2016 and now in the 2018, hacking has been increasingly common and very advanced.

According to last year’s statistics made by IT Portal, the US had the most data breaches with 1,453 data breaks in 2017 and UK is on the second place with 80 data breaches.

Joe Pindar commented on these data breaches saying that, “Companies are clearly not controlling or even knowing where their sensitive customer data is, so when it comes to complying with key aspects of GDPR like the ‘Right to be Forgotten’, what hope is there that they will be able to remove customer data from all of their systems? Whilst human error is something that all organizations have to deal with, if it’s not correctly encrypted, data can easily be compromised if it got into the wrong hands.”

Which is why this alliance made by some top firms will provide security to their customers and help prevent data breaches. Art Wong further added saying, “The group’s resources, combined with those of its alliance partners, will provide a robust cyber security platform to protect our global customers, allowing them to thrive in the digital economy.”
