Anonymous Hacker Takes Control of Kenya Defence Forces Twitter Account

The two accounts were first removed from the control of their owners by the operators behind the @Anon_0x03 Twitter handle before midnight, on Sunday.

Six hours before the second successful hack, a tweet from Major Emmanuel Chirchir extended appreciation to the Presidential Strategic Communications Unit (@PSCU_Digital) for recovering the accounts.

The next post was a retweet from Kenya Defence Forces, which was already in the hands of the hackers, letting people know that @Anon_0x03 was again in control of both accounts.

After the second successful hijack, @Anon_0x03 tweeted from the account of Major Emmanuel Chirchir, spokesman of Kenya Defence Forces, that the websites for the Ministry of Immigration and Registration of Persons and the Integrated Financial Management Information System of Kenya had both been brought down.

At the moment of writing, access to the webpages of the two Kenyan institutions is blocked and only a message from the hackers can be read: “Pwned BY ANON_0X03 AND ANONYMOUS KENYA.

A set of messages followed, one of them saying, “Violence produces violence,” while others were accompanied by images showing children waiting in line for food.
