MSPU has found that the next major update of Windows 10 will contain an option named “I forgot my password” that will enable users to recover the Microsoft Account used to log into Windows 10 right from the login screen.
The new option shows up in the latest Windows 10 Insider preview build, 16237, and it seems like it’s easy enough to leverage whether you’re using just a password or also via Windows Hello.
“In the latest preview of Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, Microsoft has added an “I forgot my password” option to those using passwords to lock their computers. Users using Windows Hello or a pin will also be able to access the new password reset option by going to the other sign-in options. Once you start the password reset process, Windows 10 takes you to the OOBE where Cortana will help you reset the password. It will first ask you to verify yourself using your secondary email, your phone number, or Microsoft Authenticator. Once verified, you will be able to reset the password and that’s pretty much it.”
The much-requested feature “I forgot my password” is finally added to Windows 10 to make it easier for users to recover their accounts. Users with a Microsoft Account earlier had to use another device to recover their account which is very uncomfortable.
