It was reported in January 2017 that the servers for leakedsource.com were seized by law enforcement authorities.

Leakedsource.com is possibly one of the biggest online collection of passwords and usernames, leaked or stolen — including almost 3 billion credentials for accounts at major websites such as MySpace and LinkedIn.

Canadian authorities have arrested and charged a 27-year-old Ontario man for allegedly selling billions of stolen passwords online through the now-defunct service.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) charged and arrested Jordan Evan Bloom as one of the faces behind Leakedsource.com.

Bloom was charged for trafficking identity information, mischief to data, unauthorized usage of computer,, and criminally obtained possession of property.

According to the RCMP, the site administrator, Bloom, collected $247,000 for selling stolen records and affiliated passwords.

Project Adoration

An investigation was launched by the name of “Project Adoration” by RCMP’s national cybercrime division in early 2016 to sweep the culprit after the RCMP were tipped by the Dutch National Police regarding a Canadian being connected to the hugely secretive website, who’s servers were being hosted from Quebec.

The officer in charge of the cybercrime investigative team, Rafael Alvarado, ensured that the RCMP will carry on conscientiously to work with the domestic and global law enforcement associates to prosecute cyber crimes

Many competing new websites are moving in to fill the gap, after the demise of LeakedSource.

These services are getting more popular among people involved in different cyber criminal activities, including specific account hijackers and email hackers.
