Review Of KeepSolid Passwarden – Your Ultimate Password Manager

Given the incidences of data breaches that expose users’ login credentials, password security has become the need of our time. To stay ahead of the criminal hackers and ensure that you use unique unbreached passwords one needs a robust password manager. KeepSolid has now come up with such a tool to facilitate their users – KeepSolid Passwarden.

KeepSolid Passwarden – Quick Review

KeepSolid Passwarden is a standalone password manager that helps you create and store passwords securely. With a single account, you can connect unlimited devices and use this app whenever you want to sign in to any account from any personal or non-personal device.

Passwarden isn’t merely a password manager, rather it’s more of a personal vault. You can store all your sensitive data here that you need to frequently access without the risk of exposing said data to hackers. From account logins to your ID card, Social Security Numbers, contacts, bank details, and anything that you deem sensitive, you can store it all here.

Top Features

Personal vaults for storage

Create dedicated vaults for storing your data in separate categories. You can also choose which vault(s) to keep visible and which ones to hide when using the Duress mode.

Robust security

Passwarden employs the most secure AES-256 and ЕС р-384 protocols at the client-side. This keeps your data veiled not only from hackers and online snoopers but from the KeepSolid staff as well.

Furthermore, Passwarden keeps snoopers at bay as it auto-locks after detecting inactivity for 1 minute (by default). You can also extend this time if you do not wish such quick autolocking.

One password for all

No need to remember tons of passwords for your online accounts. Just store them all with Passwarden and memorize one master password to access your data.

(Configuring the “Duress” mode, however, makes you remember two passwords, instead of one – a master password, and a duress password. Still, it’s better than remembering tens or hundreds of passwords.)

Duress Mode

Passwarden also offers a “Duress” mode that lets you choose which vaults to display when in duress.

Whenever you’re in an emergency, and you can’t take the risk to expose your data to strangers, just lock your app, and log back in with the dedicated Duress password that only you would know. In this way, your information in other vaults not allowed in duress remains safe.

You can set up this mode when starting activities with Passwarden to use this mode whenever needed in the future.

Cross-platform support

When using Passwarden, you don’t have to worry about losing access to your storage manager ever. You can easily download it on your respective desktop, laptop, tablet, or smartphone. Or, you can sign-in to your vault via the web app from any device that bears a standard web browser like Chrome, Firefox, and Safari.

Easy to use

No need to fiddle around with complex settings with Passwarden as it bears an easy to use interface. Just sign-in, create your vault and store your required information to the vault in a few clicks.

KeepSolid Passwarden Setup Guide

Installing the Passwarden app doesn’t require you to have any technical knowledge. The KeepSolid team has developed dedicated Passwarden apps for Android, iOS, Windows, and Mac. Hence, you can simply download the app from the respective app store on your device.

Also, you can download the tool as a dedicated browser add-on on your Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge browsers. Whereas, Firefox users will have to wait a bit as the extension is coming soon.

However, if you’re like me who is more comfortable in using web apps that can be accessed seamlessly anywhere, then the KeepSolid Passwarden web app is also available. All it takes to get in just to sign up to KeepSolid.

Below is a quick guide on how to set up the app for personal use on the web app. The same steps will also apply to standalone device apps. The only additional step with them is their download from the respective app store.

Beginning with KeepSolid Passwarden

Sign in to your KeepSolid account, download the Passwarden app on your device or visit the web-app via the browser. Then create your Master Password.

Clicking on ‘Next” will land you at the recovery key for your account. Like most credible password managers, KeepSolid Passwarden also employs strong security measures that hide your data even from the staff. Therefore, in the case of password loss, you may not be able to reset the master password. In such an unfortunate situation, the recovery key would help you regain access to your vault.

Click on “Save” to download the recovery key, or “OK” to proceed.

Using the Passwarden app

Now, in the beginning, the app lets you import your passwords and any other data from the browsers on your device and/or any password managers you use. This step saves you from the hassle of manually saving your passwords on the vault.

Click on “Next” to proceed with importing data. Or, click on “Cancel” to close the import wizard. (As I had no data to import, I closed the wizard to save my data manually.)

Now, you will see that the app interface is pretty easy to use. On the side-bar, you can find all the options to manage your Passwarden client. You get a “Personal Vault” by default to start with.

You can also create other vaults as well by clicking on the “Add Vault” option. Give a name to your vault, and you’re all set.

Every vault allows you to store all types of sensitive data that you wish, from identity information to account passwords. You can even save important notes in your vault(s).

You can click on the specific data type to store the information.

Scrolling down the side-bar will make you reach the “Settings” option. Clicking on this will give you two more options; “Account”, and “Security”.

Clicking on “Account” allows you to import data, change the master password, or sign-out your account.

Under the “Security” menu, you can set up the auto-lock duration, and proceed with configuring the Duress Mode.

Setting up the Dures Mode

The first step here is to create a “Duress password” that should be different from your master password.

After that, you can choose which of your existing vaults should appear in Duress mode. By default, you get a new (empty) personal vault with Duress.

The last step guides on using the Duress mode.

Once you set up your vaults, you can configure the Duress mode accordingly and start using Passwarden without issue.

Pros and Cons

On the whole, KeepSolid Passwarden is an amazing facility that serves as your very own data storage manager. It allows you to store much more than passwords, something not offered by other high-end password managers. So, it’s a big plus here.

Also, the robust security measures that it implements, despite being a new player in the industry, makes it a tough rival for the current leading brands.

The only minor problem I noticed with KeepSolid Passwarden is with the Duress mode. Specifically, resetting the Duress configuration, like the addition of new vaults or deletion of old vaults, necessarily requires changing the Duress password. This might be a trouble for the users who don’t like changing passwords frequently.

KeepSolid Passwarden Subscription Plans

As Passwarden offers lots of premium features, it obviously doesn’t come for free. However, it is very affordable for everyone due to its cheap pricing plans.

Regular users can use the tool for as low as $4 per month. Whereas, the more pro users can get it with VPN Unlimited bundled.

What Bunny Rating does it earn?

Given the impressive features, device compatibility, and all pros and cons, KeepSolid Password safely earns 4.5 out of 5.0 bunnies.

Conclusion

From password hacking to identity theft, data breaches and cybersecurity incidents have made users vulnerable. Therefore, tools like KeepSolid Passwarden are a necessity for everyone with an active online presence to avoid suffering from credential stuffing.

With Passwarden, users can not only protect their accounts with unique, secure, and strong passwords but also successfully fend off any attempts to steal their important data.
