Now Facebook allows you to tag a friend in the Live Streams

In August 2015, Facebook launched the ability for verified VIP user base to broadcasts live video streams using the Facebook Mentions apps. Streams appear on the News Feed, and user can comment on them in real-time. Live broadcast are automatically saved as a video post to the streamer’s page. The feature was positioned as a competitor to service such as Meerkat and Periscope. Live streaming began to roll out for public users in January 2016, beginning with the Facebook iOS app in the United States. In April 2016, Facebook unveiled a live streaming API, aimed to allow other device such as professional video camera and drone to integrate with the live video streaming platforms. Facebook also updated its mobile app to provide a dedicated sections for showcasing current and recent live broadcast.

Think of it like a Hangouts on Air via YouTube Live (what a mouthful!) — you can ask a Facebook friends to join and share the live stream screen even when you’re not in the same places. Facebook first offered this feature to public figure, but now it’ll be available for all users and Page going live through the iOS apps.

Both portrait and landscape mode are supported — in the former, the host will have the bulk of the screen real estate and their friend will show up in picture-in-picture; in the landscape, the two user screen are split down the middle. Facebook did not say when the features will arrive on Android device.

Today’s update also comes with the ability for live-streaming user to start a direct messages with one of their viewers so they can have a private chat during the broadcasts. Facebook says these are some of the more “fun” and “social” recent addition to the feature. I’ll say, given that it had one of the most gruesome month in April after consecutive weeks of live-streamed murder. After those separate incident, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg pledged to add 3,000 moderator to reviews videos and flagged report.
